1. Outlook Tip You’ll Love Unsubscribe Rule

You probably know about rules by now – it’s an inbox function that looks for things you specify in received/sent emails; then preforms the action you tell it to – put in folders, delete, respond.

I don’t know about you, but every day I handle 60 – 80 promotional type emails This tip will automatically move all those promotional emails into a folder allowing you to give the priority ones attention. This has saved me 10 -15 minutes minimum daily.

  1. First create a generic folder for incoming promotional email.
  2. Next create a Rule:
    1. For incoming emails
    2. Have the word ‘unsubscribe’ or ‘manage your preferences’ (etc) in the body of the email
    3. Move it to the promotional folder you created.

Gmail automatically categorises emails into five Tabs – Primary, Social, Promotional, Updates & Forums.

4. Home Productivity Tip One – Google Shared Calendar

For many, one of the most hectic jobs is keeping track of schedules and the many commitments of an entire family. Appointments. Travel. Sports. Meetings. Things to do. The problem is – everyone keeps different diaries / software. With the holiday and vacation season upon us, keeping track is so important.

Why not consider creating your own family Google calendar to share?

In your Google Calendar,

  • Share click on the three dots to the right and select share
  • New – create a new calendar in Settings>Add calendar > Create New

You might remember back in August I wrote that we created a Google calendar for our motorhome and shared the calendar with our six children. This allows them to book use of it/ see if it’s free. Each calendar can have it’s own colour so in a flash you can tell who set the item. In the image below, you can see the motorhome is yellow; Debbie’s is red and Steve’s green.

A few family ideas:

  • Highlight school holidays for 2021 so you can see in a snap when something might conflict
  • Add committee meetings, parties, school meetings, planned time off of work, etc
  • Birthdays of friends and relatives
  • Important work dates
  • Add on a To-Do list
  • Schools, day care – events, fundraising, holidays, teacher only days…..

5. Home Productivity Tip Two – Many Tomato Plants From One

This is my first-year gardening so please forgive me if you know this tip already. However, I’m excited as a little child about it.

Tomatoes – There are two growing forms of tomato plants

Determinate – grow to about a metre tall and bear fruit at the same time. So you don’t prune too much – you’ll lose tomatoes.

Indeterminant – these plants continue growing and should be staked as they’ll exceed 2 metres. For best results they should be pruned to keep one, maybe two primary stems

You prune the small shoots that sprout in the V where the stem and branch meet. These shoots are called suckers.

What I didn’t know is that if you stick the cut suckers into water, they’ll quickly root and create a new plant.

How divine is nature?
