1. Wonderful Browser Shortcut
Oh no! You’ve just accidently closed a Tab that you wanted open!
Don’t bother going to Settings > History and opening it.
Instead use this keyboard shortcut for Edge and Chrome Ctrl+Shift+T; Safari CMD+Shift+T
It will instantly restore the browser tab you just accidentally closed.
2. Better Word Documents
Something you might not be aware of is your ability to increase and decrease the spacing between words and letters. Why would this be useful?
A great use is when you have a title/heading that spill over into two lines, by decreasing the spacing, you can make it fit on one line. This is a very useful trick to have up your sleeve. It’s very powerful in PowerPoint too.
Word Home Ribbon > Click the down arrow in the font menu. Select Advanced from the wizard that opens. Sorry – not available in Google Docs.
3. Correcting Database Mixed Upper/Lower Cases
Collect data online? You’ll know the pain of people responding in all capitals or all lower case or mixed!!!!
You can solve this problem in Excel or Google Sheets using the function Proper. This will capitalise the first letter of each ‘word’.
- Google Sheets Insert Menu > Function > text > Proper
- Excel Formulas Ribbon > Text > Proper
4. Great Phone Cord Idea
Use a spring from an old pen to wrap around the end of your phone charging cable to keep it from bending and breaking.
