Email: Be SUSPICIOUS!!!!
Before you click open an email or any links in it – be sure it is real!!! Look at this email I received this afternoon – I thought it was from the IRD. Their logo. Their terminology. Credible as I had been going in and out of the site recently doing GST.
I almost clicked on it – but just to be sure I looked at the ‘from address’. Italy!!!!
A simple reminder
- Before you click open emails – look at the from address.
- Before you click on links – hover over them. Do they look valid?

Two Effective Communication Tips
1. You’re Important
Be aware of the phrases, nervous laughs and other verbal or visual paraphernalia you subconsciously use to make yourself less important. ‘Hi, it’s only me . . .’ is the worst offender – why is it ‘only’ you?
2. Stop Your Justs
Don’t overuse the word ‘just’, as in ‘I was just going to ask you . . .’, ‘I just wanted to say . . .’ and ‘If I could just have a word . . .’
Chrome – Quick Calorie Lookup
Want to know the kilojoule content of something quickly? Go to Google. You can quickly access the nutritional value of a food item by searching the ‘foods name’ plus ‘nutritional facts’. For example I searched M&Ms nutritional facts and it promptly showed me that 15 M&Ms contain 52 calories, 2 grams of fat and other information.
